Under the direction of Associate Professor John Billings, research is concentrated in five areas: access for the underserved, primary care delivery systems, medical education and workforce issues, program evaluation, and policy analysis. The Center is currently involved with five major evaluation projects: 1) The NYC Department of Health's city-wide asthma initiative, 2) the implementation of Medicaid managed care in New York City 3) Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Urban Health Initiative, 4) teaching of communications competencies in medical schools, and 5) medical schools curricula for disease management and managed care competencies in 160 nursing and residency programs that have joined forces in the Partnerships for Quality Education (PQE) program.
