Andrew Mondschein
Adjunct Assistant Professor of Urban Planning

Andrew Mondschein is an Adjunct Assistant Professor whose research is in the areas of transportation planning, travel behavior, sustainable urban environments, and neighborhood design. He is particularly interested in the experiential facets of travel and urban life, such as the development of cognitive maps through travel, differences in the experience of mass transit and auto travel, and the relationship between accessibility and activity spaces. At NYU, he works at the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management on projects in these areas.

Andrew Mondschein obtained his Bachelors in Architecture at Yale University and his Masters and PhD in Urban Planning at the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to his PhD, he was an Associate at Gruen Associates, a planning and architecture firm in Los Angeles. At Gruen, he worked on a variety of award-winning transportation and urban design projects, including a Bus Rapid Transit system in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, and a mixed-use transit-oriented neighborhood plan for Monterey Park, California.
