Mitchell Rubin
Adjunct Professor of Health Policy


Mitchell Rubin is a physician executive with extensive experience in managing large safety-net health care systems.  Dr. Rubin has served as the Director of Community Medicine and Community-Based Practices at two of New York City's public health care networks serving Harlem, the South Bronx and Queens, followed by Vice President, Ambulatory Care and Community Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Community Medicine, at the Nassau Health Care Corporation, Nassau County, New York.  In these roles, he addressed the needs of poor, multi-ethnic communities served by urban hospitals and their satellite clinics.  His major efforts have been in the areas of practice development, teaching, and research, focusing on primary care access and health care disparities.  Dr. Rubin holds academic appointments and is involved in teaching at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine as Professor of Clinical Preventative Medicine and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health as Senior Lecturer.  He received his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, and obtained his MD and training at New Jersey Medical School, Roosevelt St. Luke's Medical Center (NYC), and New York University Medical Center.
