Rachel Swaner
Adjunct Lecturer on Public Administration

Rachel Swaner is a researcher at the Center for Court Innovation. She is currently the project director of the national evaluation of the Defending Childhood Initiative, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative to address children's exposure to violence.  She is also working on a national portrait of the commercial sexual exploitation of children. She has authored reports on how civic engagement programs for youth can help them to exert greater policymaking influence; coauthored a study on delinquency among teenagers in Brooklyn; and authored a process and impact evaluation study of a teen peer prevention model targeting behaviors related to HIV and substance abuse. She received her PhD in Sociology from the CUNY Graduate Center, and her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration fro New York University.
