Application Review Process

NYU Wagner does not require the GRE or GMAT as a part of the Master’s level application; however, GRE scores are required for all doctoral applicants.

GRE or GMAT test scores are strongly recommended for applicants who have performed at or below the suggested minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, for applicants who may have not taken or performed poorly in previous quantitative courses, for applicants with no prior background in social science or other relevant courses, or for applicants who have been away from academic study for ten years or more. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request scores from any applicant.

NYU Wagner does not require the GRE or GMAT from the Master’s level applicants, and therefore we do not have a minimum or average score that we’re looking for. One rule of thumb to keep in mind is that the applicant pool becomes more competitive year after year, so it would be to your benefit to be in the top percentiles in all categories in order to give your application the competitive edge.

If you are submitting GRE please use ETS school code 2507 when reporting your scores. A department code is not required.

TOEFL and the TWE or the IELTS are required for international Master’s applicants whose undergraduate degree was not conducted in English. Similarly, the TOEFL and the TWE or IELTS are required for international Doctoral applicants whose Master’s degree was not conducted in English. All score reports must be sent to us officially from the testing agency and by the corresponding application deadlines.

Can I Retake The Test?

You are required to upload a scanned copy of your score report into the online application before submission. Scores reports that are submitted after the application deadline will not be reviewed. Please keep this in mind when planning for and scheduling your test.

Score Expiration

GRE and GMAT scores may be no more than 5 years old at the application deadline. TOEFL scores may be no more than 2 years old at the application deadline.
