In addition to maintaining exciting careers in the world of public service, the board members of the Wagner Alumni Association serve as volunteers for NYU Wagner and the school's alumni body.

The WAA Board hosts several events for Wagner alumni throughout the year, including educational lectures, social events and an annual benefit. In the fall of 2007 the group invited New York State Health Commissioner Richard Daines to Wagner and the commissioner spoke to a crowd that filled the Rudin Forum to capacity. This year, the board held its annual benefit on April 30th. The event, entitled "Notes on a Political Scandal," featured NY1 Political Anchor, Dominic Carter; The Village Voice's political editor, Wayne Barrett; Mayor Bloomberg’s former Communications Director, William Cunningham; BALCONY Director, Lou Gordon; and CWA Local 1180 President, Arthur Cheliotes. After a screening of the political documentary, "On the Merits: Patronage, Politics and the Civil Service in New York," the panelists discussed the changing of the mayoral guard after the Koch era.

The WAA board will be changing it's guard as well over the next two months. Elections for the 2008-2009 term will be opening in the coming weeks. If you are interested in getting involved, read more about board elections here.
