Robert M. Shrum, the renowned political strategist who most recently served as senior advisor to the 2004 Kerry-Edwards campaign, has joined New York University as a senior fellow. On February 1, the Wagner School's Women of Color Policy Network marked its five-year anniversary with a celebration highlighting its policy research accomplishments. The WOCPN also honored C. Virginia Fields, Manhattan Borough President, and Barbara Phillips of the Ford Foundation. Ms. Fields announced her candidacy for New York City Mayor during the celebration. (Read more...)

Alumni are one of the best resources students have for finding opportunities to fulfill their career goals. Make sure your organization gets a table at the annual Wagner Career Fair on Wednesday, March 9th, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Puck Building. The Career Fair offers you a chance to increase your organization's visibility, while making contacts with interested and qualified candidates. To register as an employer, submit the 2005 Career Fair Registration Form by February 9, 2005 (alumni can register at a special reduced rate of $35). Wagner's Alumni Services has partnered with Wagner Admissions to host a series of receptions around the country to help you meet other alumni in your area, and give prospective students a chance to learn about Wagner. Join us in San Francisco on Feb. 17, Chicago on March 15, and Los Angeles on April 14. If we're coming to your town, we hope to see you there! The Support Center for Nonprofit Management is now offering workshops in its Management Workshop Series at a special reduced rate for Wagner students and alumni. The Support Center offers over 100 workshops per year on a wide range of topics including organization development, staff development, fundraising, financial management and marketing. For a flat $35 fee, alumni may register for any workshop ranging from half a day to two days in length. This two-day program helps health care leaders develop the tools to meet the challenges of offering new services, developing new approaches to streamline existing operations, opening new facilities, and introducing new technologies. This one-day program introduces health care leaders to leading edge human resource strategies, such as becoming a magnet organization, utilizing talent management programs, creating a learning organization culture, and establishing individual performance standards that are linked with organizational metrics. Fee: $295; discounted rate of $250 for Wagner alumni. (Approved by NYSNA for 7.8 contact hours.)

Mark Foggin (MPA '01) is the new Assistant Director of the Mayor's Office of Industrial and Manufacturing Businesses in the NYC Department of Small Business Services. In this role, Mark will work to implement the various cross-agency and legislative initiatives outlined in the New York City Industrial Policy. Prior to arriving at SBS, Mark spent over six years at the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene coordinating public health emergency management activities. Congratulations, Mark.
Heather Lubov (MPA '99) has been named Vice President for Development at The New York Public Library. Heather celebrated her ten-year anniversary at the Library in December, and now oversees all non-membership fundraising efforts for the institution. Congratulations, Heather.

Matthew Summy (MPA '97) was recently appointed Director of Opportunity Returns for NE Illinois, the state's economic development engine for the 10-County Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
