NYU Coping with Ripple Effects of the Financial Crisis
President John Sexton recently announced NYU's strategy for coping with the projected effects the current economic crisis will have on the university in 2009-2010. In a recent memo, he discussed steps NYU has already taken to address the crisis, and the university's plans for moving forward. NYU, and NYU Wagner by extension, expect tuition revenues to drop and is planning to increase financial aid offered to students. With this two-fold situation, a budget shortfall for the next academic year is expected.

While Wagner is not exempt from the belt-tightening happening across NYU, Dean Schall is committed to leading the school in finding creative solutions to the problems at hand, reminding the faculty, staff, students, and alumni that it is in times like these when we must truly pull together. By tapping into the strengths of the Wagner network, the school expects to turn this challenge into an opportunity. Dean Schall asks those of us who have not been negatively affected by the economy to step up in support of NYU Wagner in place of regular donors who are unable to make their typical annual contributions. In this day and age, students of change and professionals in public service are needed more than ever. With your support, NYU Wagner will continue to develop the leadership that will affect change at all levels of society and all corners of our global community. Join us at our benefit on June 16th, or make an online contribution todayThank you for all you do to keep our community strong.

Alumni Insights: An Insight for YOU from NYU

You share your insights with us--but this time, here's a note for you:

If you are a member of NYU's VioletNet, you may have recently received an email from an NYU Stern alumna regarding a new music school that she is starting. The email appeared to be endorsed by New York University. NYU's Office of University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) apologizes that you received this email in error and for any concern or inconvenience that it caused.  NYU also wants to assure you that your email or personal information was not given to a third party. It was a system error that caused these email addresses to be used for this type of communication. It has always been NYU's policy to be vigilant in the protection of the private data that our alumni share with us - data which are protected under federal law.  Rest assured that your information is secure and that the glitch in VioletNet has been de-bugged.

Please contact UDAR's office with any additional questions or concerns you may have by emailing alumni.info@nyu.edu.
