May 5th is the deadline to submit your nominations to the Wagner Alumni Association (WAA) to run for the 2006-2007 WAA Board of Directors. The WAA works collaboratively with alumni and the school administration, and strives to advance the interests of Wagner alumni, promote public service, and further the goals of the Wagner School and the NYU community. The following one-year term officer positions are open: President, Executive Vice President, Vice President for Development, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. Also five two-year term Directors positions are available. Voting will commence on May 17th and will be open until the end of the WAA annual meeting on June 1st, 2006. As NYU’s Alumni Weekend celebrates the university’s 175th anniversary, join fellow Wagner grads and Dean Ellen Schall on May 13th, from 1 to 3 pm, at the Puck Building, 295 Lafayette St. at Houston St., for the Annual Dean’s Day Luncheon. Professor Ruth Ann Stewart will lead a discussion on "The Art of Culture in NYC" while the artwork of alumnus Matthew Silverberg (WAG '86) will be on display in the “Gallery at Wagner” artists’ space. The cost of the luncheon is $25 and the Alumni Weekend registration fee is $10. Register online.
The Dean’s luncheon is but one in a series of events taking place for NYU’s Alumni Weekend, May 12th to 14th. Reconnect with your colleagues at NYU and Wagner at the NYU Alumni Association Annual Awards Dinner on May 12th, at 6:30 pm, at the Roosevelt Hotel, Grand Ballroom. Wagner Alumni Daniel J. A number of Wagner students are required to work at a relevant organization as part of their degree, and alumni are a wonderful resource for job and internship opportunities. All you need is a username and password to post your organization's summer internship opportunities on the Wagner Job Site.

Wagner student Erica Isaac needs your help in expanding the impact of her field work in Afghanistan. This summer, Erica will be working with the Afghan Women's Network (AWN) on their Violence Against Women campaign, made possible by the Advocacy Project (AP). Part of the AP�s mission is to ensure that interns impact and engage their home universities and communities by sharing firsthand field experiences. For this reason, Erica is looking to establish connections with organizations that are interested in following her fieldwork experiences and/or working with her upon her return in September. For the duration of the trip, Erica will be keeping a weekly online blog reflecting her work and experiences. These blogs will contain a combination of photographs, fieldwork reflections and substantive work updates. Erica is looking for alumni who are willing to distribute her blogs, collaborate on articles, find venues to speak about her experience, to name a few options. Erica hopes that through these connections her work will be useful and informative long after she has left Afghanistan. Two prominent Wagner Alumni will be honored with this year's NYU Wagner Torch Award and the Troy R. Westmeyer Alumni Award at the WAA annual meeting on Thursday, June 1. In addition to honoring these amazing graduates, you'll help welcome the new grads to alumni status, and cast the final vote in the WAA Elections. The CareerWays Fellowship Program would like to ask for your help in identifying a select group of recent college graduates to take part in an exciting program designed to develop the next generation of public service leaders. The CareerWays Public Service Fellowship is a program for individuals early in their careers who are working full-time in public service jobs in the New York City area. 40 emerging leaders will be given the opportunity to participate in the 2007 fellowship beginning in January and ending in July. Deadline to apply is October 16, 2006. Apply online at the CareerWays website.
Before they walk across the graduation stage, the Wagner Student Association are supporting Wagner by making donations toward a class gift. You can check their progress online at 2006 Public Service Pledge page.

Elena Agapova (MS '03) is the Director of Finance for the AIDS Foundation East-West, International Dutch NGO in Moscow, Russia. Elena is responsible for managing all financial operations of a 10 million dollar organization, operating in nine countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Amy Bennett-Layden (MPA '03) is a Compensation Analyst for Compensation Resources, Inc. Amy collects, analyzes and prepares wage and salary data to facilitate compensation and management functions of organization.
Robert A. Cropf (PHD '91) was selected to be the Chairman of the Department of Public Policy Studies at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He has also received a grant to co-author a public administration case book for adult learners. Congratulations, Robert.
Eva M. Dowdell (MPA '95) will earn her JD from Rutgers next month. While at Rutgers, she was editor of the Computer and Technology Law Journal, won a partial scholarship, and her "note" -- the major article written by each student on a law school journal -- is being cited in an upcoming textbook on criminal procedure. Congratulations, Eva.
Harriet Grayson (MPA '73) recently published a book, "Guide to Government Grants Writing." This book is designed to assist individuals or organizations, including non-profit and for-profit businesses, on researching and writing government grant applications. Congratulations, Harriet.
John King (MPA '93) has opened his own law firm in the DC area Capital Law Partners, LLC. Congratulations, John.
Mario Nozzolillo (MPA '04) is an Administrative Fellow at the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. Working in Project Design Management, Mario works on financial projections, financial analysis, and process flow.
Shelly Raffle (MPA '95) is the Manager of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York's Emergency Response System, which she helped to develop. Shelly is responsible for the development and management of all aspects of VNS' emergency preparedness and response initiatives, including training and exercises.
Greg Rhodes (MPA '04) was a guest speaker at the American College of Healthcare Executives Annual Congress in Chicago. Over 500 people attended his two lectures on "Lessons from the Frontlines: Perspectives of a First-Time Healthcare Executive." Greg is the Administrator of the Center for Arthritis and Autoimmunity at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases.
Earl G. Simons (MPA '89) has been appointed as the new Assistant to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at York College. Earl will be responsible for assisting the university in a broad range of areas which will include special events, government relations, alumni relations, and fundraising. Congratulations, Earl.
