NYU Wagner has announced the selection of its first class of New York City Social Justice Fellows -- seven community organizers and advocates devoted to such issues as immigrant rights, HIV/AIDS, and youth empowerment. Chosen through a competitive process, the advocates, who work to bring about grassroots engagement in the formation of public policy, will each receive a stipend of $42,000, a benefits allowance, and project seed grants, along with opportunities for networking, technical assistance, and research. This is the first year the fellowship is administered and operated by NYU Wagner's Research Center for Leadership in Action. The 2006-07 Social Justice Fellowship class grew out of the former New York City Community Fellows Program founded in 1998 by the Open Society Institute, a component of the network of foundations sponsored by philanthropist George Soros. After supporting nearly 80 fellows, the Open Society Institute placed the fellowship program with NYU Wagner in late 2005. The Institute provided a $1.8 million grant. NYU Wagner's John Brademas Center for the Study of Congress today released the results of a national survey that finds widespread dissatisfaction with Congress and pent-up demand for action on worrisome long-term issues such as global warming, Social Security and Medicare, and even aging bridges and roads. The Wagner Review of Public Affairs is the student-run academic journal of the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. The Wagner Review promotes dialogue on a wide range of issues related to public service, by publishing original writing and research from a diverse group of students and alumni. Articles reflect the academic programs offered and scholarly research conducted at the Wagner School. The Wagner Review is currently considering submissions from current students (2006 and 2007 graduates) and alumni involving a wide range of topics, including public and non-profit management, public policy, financial management and public finance, health policy, health management, urban planning, and international affairs. Antonia Cornaro (MUP '96) is an Urban Planner for the Austrian Institute for Regional Planning. In this role, Antonia is doing spatial planning analysis, strategic planning for regions, and master planning and evaluations for site analysis.
Mark Foggin (MPA '01) is the Deputy Director of the NYC Mayor's Office of Industrial & Manufacturing Businesses, where he is helping to retain and grown NYC's blue collar jobs by protecting industrial land for industrial uses and assisting blue-collar businesses to open, thrive and grow.

Lilian Miller (MPA '06) has joined the Brazil Foundation's management team this September as its Manager of Outreach for the National Expansion Project.
