Modeled after the Alumni Career Advisement Program, Wagner's Office of Career Services is launching CAWWS - Career Advisement With Working Students - this September. Developed in conjunction with Wagner's Part-Time Student Committee, the purpose of CAWWS is to connect current working students with other students and alumni interested in career exploration, with the emphasis being on information gathering and fostering professional relationships. CAWWS is a program designed to leverage the considerable professional expertise of Wagner's own students for the benefit of others.
Professor Rae Zimmerman, director of Wagner's Urban Planning program, wants ensure that all the planners out there were aware that the American Planning Association (APA) will hold the 2006 National Planning Conference April 22-26, in San Antonio. Make sure your calendars are marked, as Wagner will definitely have a presence there will gather together your alumni friends and planning colleagues. Stay Tuned! Nick Molinari (MUP '05) was recently hired as the City Planner - Staten Island and Lower Manhattan Project Manager for the NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation's Planning Division. Congratulations, Nick.
Steven Peelor (MPA '98) manages several affordable housing finance programs in Los Angeles for Century Housing, which provides predevelopment, construction, and permanent mortgage loans used to create and improve rental and for-sale housing for low and moderate income families and seniors. Steven is now Program Manager for Century Housing's newest lending program, The Century Community Lending Company. This program is a new partnership with several large national banks to provide financing for the development of workforce housing. Modeled on successful programs in New York and Chicago, CCLC works with small, entrepreneurial developers. Congratulations, Steven.
Kevin Rex (MPA '99) is currently serving as a Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada in the Privy Council Office. Kevin is responsible for providing advice and presenting recommendations to the Prime Minister, Cabinet and senior government officials on issues related to conflict in Africa, the United Nations, and international development and cooperation policy.
Courtney Smith (MPA '05) is a Healthcare Consultant for GE Healthcare's Performance Solutions department. In this role, Courtney is working with hospitals to implement both quality initiatives using six sigma and LEAN tools and is looking at how to enhance revenue within hospitals. Congratulations, Courtney.
Jacob Victory (MPA '98) is the chief liaison for the President and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, staffing the CEO on corporate projects of a $1 billion home health and community-based organization that serves 30,000 patients daily. Jacob works on setting the strategic objectives, monitoring financial, capacity, marketing, quality, innovation and technology trends, indicators and targets; assists in the writing of all of the CEO's presentations and speeches; is involved in corporate projects that span development, business growth, technology and marketing. and also staffs the Board of Directors and the Board's Executive Committee, as well as various committees and ad hoc projects.
Nellie Yeretsian (MPA '05) is Project Manager for Brigham & Women's Hospital, where she is working as Special Projects Manager for a diabetes outreach program for an outpatient practice. Congratulations, Nellie.
