HEALTHCARE

Attention: Health Care Employers

Rated first in the nation in U.S. News and World Report's rankings of public affairs programs with the specialty of health policy and management, NYU Wagner's MPA program has established a reputation for attracting and educating outstanding individuals committed to improving health services in communities and cities around the world. Whether seasoned professionals, recent college graduates, or mid-career managers, students arrive at the Wagner School with a desire to serve the public, and they leave with the cutting edge skills needed to become effective leaders in the rapidly changing health care field.

Committed to public service, Wagner Students are prepared to manage a wide array of health care programs and to analyze and craft thoughtful, forward-thinking health policy. They can be found working in hospitals, nonprofits, consulting firms, managed care organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and government health agencies.

Our success is based on a combination of rigorous academics that link theory to practice with an emphasis on the development of critical thinking and communication skills. In addition to courses in health services management, financial decision-making, policy analysis, health economics, and statistical analysis, students have successfully completed a "Capstone" project where they work as a member of a consulting team to solve a problem for a client in a health care organization. As a result, NYU Wagner graduates are trained to be effective administrators with the ability to work with colleagues in the dynamically complex organizational settings of the health care field.

Shaping the successful operation of health care organizations and the delivery of health care services, recent Wagner graduates can be found playing the following significant roles:
