FOR EMPLOYERS

Health Residency

The Health Policy and Management Program is committed to educating professionals for effective careers in the health care field. Administrative health residencies provide opportunities for students to integrate the knowledge that they gain in the classroom with real world experience. The residency is a 9 to 12-month assignment, for which the student is compensated by the host organization.

Senior level skilled practitioners act as preceptors and provide residents with a learning environment that will contribute to their education as well as their understanding of the organization. Residents serve as a resource to the organization by directly contributing through the development and implementation of projects in the organization. Additionally, preceptors are able to identify promising candidates for management and future leadership positions within their organizations.

Preceptors meet with and monitor their resident's activities on a regular basis, expose the resident to as many high level meetings and decision-making opportunities as possible and provide the resident with valuable work experience to enhance the student's understanding of the organization and its role in the health care sector system.

For more information about becoming a preceptor, please contact Wagner OCS at (212) 998.7474 or wagner.ocss@nyu.edu.
