1. What can I expect from a WAG-NET member?
WAG-NET members can provide one-on-one advice and information about their jobs, organizations, career paths, or knowledge of a particular field. Conversations or informational interviews can take place in person, on the telephone, or through email. PLEASE NOTE: WAG-NET members do not offer jobs, only advice and information.
2. How can I get connected with a WAG-NET member?
You must have met with OCS before you can receive access to WAG-NET. Once you have attended an orientation session or had a conversation with an OCS staff member you will be granted use of the WAG-NET tab on the Career Directory.
3. How should I prepare for an informational interview with a WAG-NET member?
We strongly recommend reading the Office of Career Services resource guide on Informational Interviews to help you get the most out of your discussion with a WAG-NET Member.
4. What is involved in being a WAG-NET member?
As a WAG-NET member, you will serve as a valuable resource to students and alumni by providing advice and/or informational interviews in person, on the phone, or on email. Your role is to provide information about your job, organization or field, not to get someone a job.
Speaking to peers and colleagues is often the most effective way to find out about a field, industry, or particular type of work. As a working professional who's "been there," the experience and expertise you offer to students and alumni is invaluable.
6. I'm a working student or alumna/us who is interested in becoming a WAG-NET Member. How do I sign up?
To sign up for WAG-NET please complete the WAG-NET Sign Up/Information Update form.
7. I am a WAG-NET member. How do I make a change to my WAG-NET profile?
To make any necessary updates to your WAG-NET profile please complete the WAG-NET Sign Up/Information Update form.
8. How will people get my name and email address?
Students/Alumni only have access to WAG-NET after they have visited Wagner's OCS at least once and agreed to follow WAG-NET and informational interview protocol. The student/alum will then email you for an informational interview. How that interview takes place - on the phone, in person, or via email - is up to you to decide.
