Connie Chuang
Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management

Connie Chuang, MD, MPA, MPH is currently an occupational health physician consultant at Sandler Occupational Medicine Associates Inc., (SOMA) where she provides clinical and managerial expertise for various stakeholders to evaluate, problem solve, and manage health and safety concerns in the workplace and other environmental settings.  Prior to working at SOMA, Dr. Chuang provided several years of primary care services for indigent populations in NYC.  She also worked at VNSNY, where she collaborated with leadership and nurses to develop, implement and manage clinical health programs that addressed needs of managed care members.

Dr. Chuang has experience in health product development focusing on improving quality of care, increasing access to care, and reducing health care costs.  She has a strong interest in utilizing continuous quality improvement (CQI) tools and principles to provide effective, efficient, and evidence-based solutions to promote healthy and safe work environments and workforces.

Dr. Chuang obtained her MD degree from Albany Medical College, MPA from NYU Wagner with a focus in Health Policy and Management, and a MPH from UMDNJ School of Public Health with a focus in Environmental and Occupational Health.  She maintains dual board-certification in Preventive Medicine (Occupational Medicine specialty) and Internal Medicine.  She completed her occupational and environmental medicine training at UMDNJ with an OPSF scholarship.

Spring 2014 HPAM-GP.2825.001 Continuous Quality Improvement

This course encourages students to think creatively about what it means for a healthcare organization to make quality the highest priority. We will explore the current forces driving the push toward quality outcomes and accountability at all levels and settings of healthcare, while focusing on the philosophy of continuous improvement through team work and statistical thinking. Students will use structural tools for analysis, decision making and performance measurement.
