Introduction to Access

NONCR-GP.934,  points.

This workshop introduces students to the Microsoft Access database management system. Topics include tables and relationships, with a focus on limiting redundancy; queries using both the Access query design tool and SQL; creating a user interface with forms and reports; integrating Excel and Access; and macro building using both the Access macro builder and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). At the conclusion of the workshop, students will be able to build a simple, minimally redundant database that implements one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many relationships; build queries to retrieve information; create user-friendly forms that implement queries and navigate the database; design reports that effectively display query results; and implement simple VBA scripts.
