Yelena Pogorelsky
Interests: Funding and organizational efficiency in the non-profit sector, leadership development, identity building
Yelena Pogorelsky immigrated to the United States from Russia in 1996. She received her BBA in Finance and Investment from Baruch College, and had a five-year career at an investment bank before transitioning to the nonprofit field. Currently, Yelena is the program director of the Havurah Summer Camp Program at Camp Tel Yehudah, an initiative designed to attract teens from Russian-Jewish families in North American to an immersive experience at a Jewish summer camp. Yelena joined the Camp Tel Yehudah team in 2009 and has worked closely with many partner organizations including the Genesis Philanthropy Group, the Foundation for Jewish Camp, and the Jewish Agency for Israel to create an integrated camping model and leadership training seminar for Russian-speaking Jewish young adults. Yelena is passionate about utilizing results-oriented approaches from her business background within the context of the Jewish nonprofit field. Yelena is a first-year student in the NYU Wagner/Skirball MPA-MA in Hebrew and Judaic Studies program and is a Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women (JFEW) fellow.
