Cross Professional Series (XPS)

This Cross Professional Series (XPS) will feature NYU Wagner Dean, Sherry Glied, who is accomplished in the fields of health care policy and academia.  She served as Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under President Barack Obama and was professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health before coming to Wagner.  She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine, is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, and was a member of the Board of Directors of AcademyHealth.

Dean Glied literally wrote the book on health care reform (Chronic Condition: Why Health Reform Fails and Better But Not Well: Mental Health Policy in the U.S. since 1950).  She will discuss her personal professional journey through various sectors and roles, and how she identified opportunities among the challenges as she progressed in her career.
