Andrew Friedman co-founded Make the Road by Walking with Oona Chatterjee in March 1997, and has been Co-Director of the organization ever since. Mr. Friedman has worked with the Latino Workers' Center, the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, the Center for Urban Community Services' Transitional Living Community for mentally ill homeless women, the Government Benefits Unit at Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, MFY Legal Services Mental Health Law Project, and REACH. Andrew was awarded the 1999 Union Square Award of the Fund for the City of New York for his work at Make the Road by Walking. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy.
