International Summer Travel Grants

In recognition of the importance of gaining field experience, Wagner's Office of International Programs (OIP) offers travel grants to current Wagner students who plan to pursue an overseas internship or applied research project. The grants have generally been $500 per grantee. The level of funding for 2008 is to be determined but will be a minimum of $500.

The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Wagner students are eligible based on the following requirements:

• The internship or research project is outside of the U.S.
• The internship or project is not otherwise funded nor does it cover travel expenses
• The internship is not a paid internship
• Credit will not be received for the internship or applied research project
• The internship or project abroad builds on the student's academic and professional goals
• The student must be a current and enrolled student (students graduating in May or September are not eligible)
• The student is in good academic standing (overall G.P.A. at or above 3.3)

To be considered for the travel grant, applicants must use the online application form to submit the following information to OIP:

• A completed application. Click here for the online application form.
• A one-page personal statement-students should provide background information about their internship/project and discuss how the opportunity will help them achieve their personal and professional goals
• Budget breakdown of anticipated travel costs
• Unofficial copy of academic transcript

The funding is awarded as a reimbursement for travel transportation costs (airfare or trainfare). Original boarding passes and receipts must be presented.

Please note, because the purpose of the travel grant is to support students gaining field experience, travel for a summer abroad course is excluded from eligibility.
