This professional development training is for staff of national and community service programs. One in a series of regional trainings offered by Action Without Borders - Idealist.org and New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, this conference aims to broaden and reframe the definition of public service work and make these career paths more visible and accessible to Corps members in a variety of year-of-service programs.
PROGRAM
By the end of this two-day training, participants will be able to:
IPSC was launched in December 2004 with a 2-day forum at which higher education career service professionals from across the country met to define the challenges of connecting more young people to public service careers and identify the resources and approaches that address those challenges effectively. We followed this successful event with five regional conferences, and in 2006, this program received the NACE/Chevron Award for innovative programming in career services. In March 2007, we expanded IPSC programming to include enhancing the capacity of national and community service program staff to provide career transition services to their corps members.
FACILITATORS AND PRESENTERS
The Forum will be facilitated by David Schachter, Assistant Dean for Career Services and Experiential Learning at NYU Wagner and by Amy Potthast, Manager of Year of Service and Graduate Education Programs at Action Without Borders- Idealist.org.
