Brianne Lute is a first year graduate student at NYU Wagner focusing on Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy with a Policy focus. She serves as the Project Coordinator for the Leading Large-Scale Change Executive Briefing Series, co-sponsored by RCLA and Accenture.
Prior to attending Wagner, Brianne was a senior program officer with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs’ Governance team where she worked on programs to strengthen democratic legislatures, local governments and executive offices around the world. In 2008, Brianne served as the resident program officer for the Institute’s parliamentary program in Montenegro during which time she consulted and trained MPs, and parliamentary staff and administrators; planned a seminar to strengthen the capacity of parliamentary staff; and produced new resources, including a comprehensive parliamentary staff manual. Also in Montenegro, Brianne served as a short-term election observer with the OSCE team monitoring the 2008 presidential election there. Since she joined the Institute in 2006, Brianne supported NDI projects on the ground in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Turkey.
In 2007, Brianne was one of 60 women selected worldwide to participate in the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University—an intensive political immersion program geared toward politically experienced women who plan to seek elected office.
Previous to NDI, Brianne spent five years working for US Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) in several capacities, departing as his executive assistant. As a member of the Senator’s senior staff, she supported legislative initiatives as well as strategic and political efforts. Brianne has also worked on Congressional campaigns, and attended the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston and various other state party conventions, rallies and fundraising events throughout the country.
Brianne graduated from Indiana University in 2001 where she double-majored in English and Criminal Justice, and minored in Business. She speaks basic German and Serbo-Croatian.
