The white house project

21st century women's leadership inquiry

RCLA and the White House Project are collaborating to foster conversations about women's leadership. The project serves as the beginning of a larger women's leadership initiative. It involves a cooperative inquiry with women in executive positions across the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. The long-term goal is to contribute to shifting the discourse about leadership from a heroic, masculine, and often white view, to a more collective, relational and inclusive view. Capturing this approach to leadership, which may be enacted by both men and women, but is often more evident in women, will build knowledge about how leadership happens today. It will also produce a deeper understanding of the contributions of women's leadership practices. Wagner Dean Ellen Schall is leading the project with partners at the White House Project.
