Nancy Lublin is the CEO of Do Something, an organization that has been helping young children change their world for over ten years. In her position at Do Something, she has launched “We’ve Got Your Back,” the first organized youth response to the Gulf Coast hurricanes, and the Kids Tsunami Relief Fund, which raised over $407,000. In 1996, Lublin founded Dress For Success New York, and in 1999 founded Dress For Success Worldwide. Previously, she worked as a legal associate and grass roots organizer for women’s rights in South Africa and London. In 1999, she was awarded Forbes Magazine’s Trailblazer Award.

This course is a general introduction to not-for-profit management, with heavy emphasis on practical application. How do not for profit organizations actually function? How do they attract “customers?” How do these companies grow when there are no owners with financial incentives to grow the business? What are the core elements of a “good” not for profit company? What are the metrics for determining the health of a company without profit? And, why would anybody work for such a crazy place?
