Professor Netzer has worked in urban public finance and urban economics as a researcher, teacher, consultant, and public official for more than forty years. He is the author of Economics of the Property Tax (Brookings, 1966), Economics and Urban Problems (Basic Books, 1974), and The Subsidized Muse (Twentieth Century Fund Press, 1978) and principal author of "Financing Government in New York City". In addition, he is the author or coauthor of more than 200 articles, papers, and book chapters, and is a nationally recognized expert in the economics of property taxation. From 1969 through 1982, Professor Netzer served as the dean of the Wagner School and was the founding director of the Taub Urban Research Center. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Citizen's Union Foundation. Professor Netzer received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
