Reynolds Program Launches Spring 2008 Speaker Series on 'Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century'

The NYU Reynolds Program in Social Entrepreneurship resumes its 2007-08 "Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century" speaker series on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, with  Jed Emerson, leading Blended Value scholar and Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) founder. The event will take place at noon in the Rudin Family Forum on the 2nd floor of the Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street, home of the Wagner School as well as the Reynolds Program. Emerson's appearance launches an exciting spring phase of the series.

Maximizing the value of organizations and capital is the fundamental challenge of our lives yet traditional thinking asks us to accept that financial value and social/environmental impact are fundamentally at odds. Jed Emerson begs to differ and has spent his life showing the world examples of an alternative path.

The Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Speaker Series features a remarkable selection of social entrepreneurs who have launched extraordinary programs addressing the most pressing challenges of the 21st century. Reflecting the NYU Reynolds belief that social entrepreneurship is a meta-profession drawing on cross-disciplinary knowledge and practice, the series presents prominent social entrepreneurs and leaders from across the spectrum of public and professional sectors who will share their insights as cutting-edge, far reaching change makers. Other speakers include BRAC CEO and Founder Fazle Hasan Abed, Acumen Fund CEO Jacqueline Novogratz, International Bridges to Justice Founder and CEO Karen Tse, and Partners in Health Co-founder Paul Farmer.
