The Research Center for Leadership in Action at NYU Wagner and the Center for Public Democracy welcome you to a half-day symposium on social justice, workers rights, and their implications for civil society and democracy in the U.S. This symposium will bring together students, the academic community, and social change organizations to reflect and learn about the situation of U.S. workers, the issues they face, and the difficulties related to building a broader and stronger workers movement in the context of wealth inequality. This is an opportunity for the audience to learn and engage in a deep discussion with researchers, leaders, organizers, and policy change advocates working on these topics.

Speakers will include:

Ruth Milkman, City University of New York
Ana Maria Archila, Center for Popular Democracy
Deborah Axt, Make the Road New York
Sasha Hammad, Retail Action Project
Jonathan Westin, New York City Communities for Change
