NYU Wagner Holds 2nd Annual Day of Service

NYU Wagner 2nd Annual Day of Service

On Saturday, April 5, over 200 students, staff, faculty, and alumni from the NYU Wagner community joined together in a City-wide day of service. Participants served 11 different organizations throughout NYC, delivering over 800 hours of service throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx.

Service projects included bread baking and packaging at Hot Bread Kitchen, whose mission is to increase economic security for foreign-born and low-income women and men through culinary workforce and business incubation programs; boatyard maintenance at Rocking the Boat, a nonprofit that empowers youth by teaching them to work together to build wooden boats, learn to row and sail, and restore local urban waterways; and a community garden cleanup at La Plaza Cultural, whose mission is to provide a free and open space for community performances, urban gardening, wildlife refuge, community composting, and children's play areas. Other project sites included Bayard Rustin Complex, Wheeling ForwardEast New York FarmsNew York Cares, the Anti-Violence ProjectTransportation AlternativesBrooklyn Bridge Park, and Housing Works.
