NYU Wagner Student Groups Host Debate on the Affordable Care Act

Robert Moffit, Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation

On Monday, March 31, the Wagner Policy Alliance, Wagner Economics and Finance Association, and Wagner Health Network sponsored a debate on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Healthcare Reform. The debate featured Robert Moffit, Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, and Richard Kirsch, Senior Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute. The debate was moderated by NYU Wagner professor Brian Elbel

The debaters discussed the implemenation of the ACA, to what extent it has been successful, and whether the law should be improved or replaced. They offered differing perspectives on the role of government in healthcare, examining whether or not they believe the ACA is a step in the right direction. Both participants explored alternative and ideal strategies for increasing access to healthcare and reducing medical costs.
