Student Team Impresses at UAB Health Administration Case Competition

A  student team from NYU Wagner garnered “Honorable Mention” at the 8th annual Health Administration Case Competition at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. It was the first time a Wagner team entered the national competition, which featured 36 teams the last three days of February.

The two-round competition sponsored by UAB Health System asked students to weigh in on a proposal by a hospice care provider for the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area to expand a cutting-edge "Telecaring" initiative.

Wagner’s Joseph Bigda-Peyton, Vickey Tsai, and Darcie Goodman focused on the broad challenges and actual potential of providing services efficiently and effectively through telecommunications. They gave a well-organized, meticulous presentation before a panel of judges, and fielded questions as well. The students' faculty advisors, Will Carlin and Diana Beck, provided support and guidance.

In the end, six teams were selected as finalists, from which were chosen the first-, second-, and third-place finishers. At closing ceremonies, the Wagner group and five other teams drew “Honorable Mention” for exemplary analytical abilities, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.

Congratulations to Joseph, Vickey, and Darcie!
