Tuition Refund Schedule

Tuition Refunds

Students making changes to their course schedules must be aware of the Tuition Refund Schedule.  During the Drop/Add period, it is students' responsibility to drop any courses that they do not intend to complete; non-attendance does not automatically withdraw a student.  Similarly, it is students' responsibility to monitor their progress on any waitlists.  Students who are added into a course off a waitlist after the semester has begun will be charged tuition and fees for that course if they do not drop the additional credits on the same day that they have been added to the new course.

Tuition Refund Schedule -- Fall and Spring

Withdrawal Tuition and Fees Refund
courses dropped within the first two weeks of the semester 100%
courses dropped after the first two weeks of the semester 0%

Please note that ALL fees (including school-related fees) are non-refundable after the Second Calendar Week of the semester.

Courses beginning after the University add/drop deadline (e.g., 7-week session 2 classes), in most cases may be dropped within 1 business day of the first class meeting or prior to the 2nd class meeting, whichever comes first, without a W appearing on the student's transcript with 100% tuition refund, but no refund of fees.

Any registration transactions after the two-week add/drop period must be done manually. Please email Academic Services with your registration request.

Students should consult the NYU Office of the Bursar for more information and specific dates.

Tuition Refund Schedule -- Summer
(8-Week Session for Wagner)

Withdrawal Tuition and Fees Refund
Courses dropped or session withdrawals during the first week of the session 100%
Courses dropped or session withdrawals after the first week of the session 0%

Students should consult the NYU Office of the Bursar for specific dates each semester.

Note

For Summer Session Only:

The Registrar's Office will automatically de-enroll all students carrying a tuition balance. For summer payment deadline please consult the Bursar's Office webpage. Once a student is de-enrolled, s/he will need to contact their program's administrator to re-register for classes and receive a late registration fee waiver. All summer students are urged to ensure full payment of tuition before the start of classes to avoid being de-enrolled.

Refund Schedule for Complete Withdrawals

There is a different refund schedule for students who completely withdraw from all of their courses after the first day of the semester.  Please consult the Bursar's website for details.  Fees are not refundable after the first day of the semester and there is only a partial tuition refund after the first week.

Petition for Refund

Under extenuating circumstances (e.g. documented medical emergency), students may petition for a refund of tuition.  [Registration and service fees are non-refundable.]  Petitions should be submitted electronically to wagner.studentservices@nyu.edu to be reviewed by committee.
