Council on Transportation
Representing major private and nonprofit sector organizations, the Council on Transportation is a bipartisan group created by the Rudin Center committed to improving transportation in the downstate New York region, especially in New York City. The Council acts as an advisory board to the Rudin Center, the UTRC, and transportation advocacy groups. It works closely with elected officials, local, state, and federal agencies, and the media. Current members include:
Empire State Transportation Alliance (ESTA)
A partnership between the Council on Transportation, the Rudin Center, and the Regional Plan Association (RPA), the Empire State Transportation Alliance (ESTA) draws members from a wide range of civic, business, labor, and environmental interest groups to develop strategies and policy related to transportation in New York. ESTA has played a leadership role in a variety of key initiatives, including working with the Governor, the New York State Legislature, the Metropolitan Transit Authority, and the NY State Department of Transportation to enact a landmark $34 billion five-year transportation program; working with the Port Authority of NY & NJ to enact a value pricing program; and establishing a transportation platform for the 2001 New York City mayoral campaign that was endorsed by all the major candidates, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
