  2. New York Times spotlights NYU Wagner's 'Visual Explorer' application tool

    When NYU Wagner reviews applications for admission, we try to add up the many components that make up an applicant and ask ourselves: Who is this person? Two years ago, we added an optional Visual Explorer essay to our application. This essay section provides all applicants with an opportunity to offer information about themselves that is not always captured through the standard essay question on the application. They are asked to select a photograph from an archive of two dozen conceptual images and then write about it.

    Sarah M. Kaufman is Assistant Director for Technology Programming at the NYU Rudin Center for Transportation, where she researches, advocates for and educates about cutting-edge technologies in transportation. She focuses on crowdsourcing, open data and social media in urban transportation systems. Ms. Kaufman created the popular Short Talks, Big Ideas event series, an exchange of innovative projects and ideas between transportation thinkers and practitioners, and manages the Rudin Center's web presence at NYURudinCenter.com.

  5. Dall W. Forsythe

    Dall W. Forsythe is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. His specialization is in Finance and his current research interests center on the use of cost benefit analysis in budgeting, on securities regulation, and on the finances of New York City and New York State. Forsythe is also a member of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.

  6. Mitchell L. Moss

    Mitchell L. Moss, Henry Hart Rice Professor of Urban Policy and Planning, and Director of the Rudin Center for Transportation, has been described as a “New Yorkologist” by The New York Times.   Professor Moss has been on the faculty of New York University since 1973. He served as an adviser to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg during his first campaign for Mayor in 2001. From 1988 to 2003 he was Director of NYU’s Taub Urban Research Center and from 1983 to 2004 he was deputy to the Chairman of the Governor’s Council on Fiscal and Economic Priorities.
