  2. New York Times spotlights NYU Wagner's 'Visual Explorer' application tool

    When NYU Wagner reviews applications for admission, we try to add up the many components that make up an applicant and ask ourselves: Who is this person? Two years ago, we added an optional Visual Explorer essay to our application. This essay section provides all applicants with an opportunity to offer information about themselves that is not always captured through the standard essay question on the application. They are asked to select a photograph from an archive of two dozen conceptual images and then write about it.

  3. Symposium on Legacy and Contemporary Relevance of Luther Gulick and the IPA

    helped launch and directed the Training School of Public Service within the Bureau of Municipal Research, which later evolved into the Institute of Public Administration (IPA). The first center of professional education for public service, the IPA pioneered a rigorous approach to the work of government. NYU Wagner is proud to award a Luther Gulick Fellowship, endowed by the Board of the Institute of Public Administration. This symposium honors Luther Gulick and the IPA, as it examines the contemporary relevance of their contributions to the field.

  5. Sarah Kaufman

    Sarah M. Kaufman is Assistant Director for Technology Programming at the NYU Rudin Center for Transportation, where she researches, advocates for and educates about cutting-edge technologies in transportation. She focuses on crowdsourcing, open data and social media in urban transportation systems. Ms. Kaufman created the popular Short Talks, Big Ideas event series, an exchange of innovative projects and ideas between transportation thinkers and practitioners, and manages the Rudin Center's web presence at NYURudinCenter.com.

  7. Rae Zimmerman

    Rae Zimmerman is Professor of Planning and Public Administration at New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and since 1998, Director of the Institute for Civil Infrastructure Systems (ICIS), a center, initially funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for collaborative and interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach on infrastructure services. In 2011-2013 she directed Wagner’s Urban Planning Program for the fifth time.
