Full-Time First-Semester Course Plans: MPA-Health

Because Health specialization courses are highly sequential, it is imperative that Health students carefully follow these first-semester course plans.

Part-time students generally take 8 credits per semester, so register for half of the load recommended in the plans below if you will be part-time in Fall 2013.

If you successfully waive two or more courses, please contact your Program Administrator for guidance on course selection.

Financial Management

NOTE: Recommended for students with strong quantitative skills. Taking three quantitative courses in the first semester can be challenging so it is only recommended for those who feel confident in their quantitative skills. Introduction to Health Policy & Management (HPAM-GP 1830), may be taken in the first semester instead of Financial Management (CORE-GP 1021)

Public Finance

NOTE: Recommended for students with strong quantitative skills. Taking three quantitative courses in the first semester can be challenging so it is only recommended for those who feel confident in their quantitative skills. Managing Public Services Organizations (CORE-GP 1020) or Introduction to Public Policy (CORE-GP 1022) may be taken in the first semester instead of Financial Management (CORE-GP 1021).
