Lisa Tilis
Adjunct Associate Professor of Public Service

Lisa Tilis is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Public Service at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and Northeast Transfer Pricing Practice Leader at Grant Thornton, one of the world’s leading organizations of independent audit, tax, and advisory firms.

Tilis has more than twenty years of experience in finance, economics and international trade in academia, business, and consulting. She received her B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and completed her post-graduate studies in Cooperative Education in Mathematics & Computer Science at Wright State University. She also holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Iowa.

Fall 2014 PADM-GP.2140.002 Public Economics and Finance

Public finance (the economic analysis of revenues and expenditures of the public sector) and public economics (economic analysis of the public sector in a market economy) analyze the impact of public policy on the allocation of resources and the distribution of income in the economy. In this course, you will learn how to interpret economic analyses and how to use the tools of microeconomics and empirical analysis to investigate and predict the effects of public expenditures, regulation and government revenue-raising activities.
