Degree Requirements

Credits required for graduation: 60
  • Complete four Schoolwide Core Courses (Note: Urban Planning students take the Urban Planning Core Course P11.2660, History & Theory of Urban Planning, instead of the fifth schoolwide core course, P11.1022, Introduction to Public Policy.)
  • Choose a Specialized Elective Cluster or the International Specialization
  • Depending on your track, complete five Urban Planning Core Courses:
    • Urban Planning Core for the Elective Cluster Track:
    • Urban Planning Core for the International Specialization:
    • Complete specialized elective coursework
    • Complete Capstone
    • Demonstrate Computer Proficiency
    • Meet the Professional Experience Requirement (required only for students with two years or less of relevant work experience)

    Please note that most Urban Planning Core courses are only offered once a year. You should consult the most recent current Course Schedule to determine if a given course is offered in a particular semester. Full-time Urban Planning students typically take two School-Wide Core and two Urban Planning Core courses in their first semester.
