Charlotte Wagenberg
Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management and Public and Health Administration

Charlotte Wagenberg heads her own consulting practice specializing in leadership and organization development, team-based management, individual and organizational performance improvement, change management; and the alignment of business, human resources and customer service strategies in corporate, nonprofit, and public organizations. Previously, Dr. Wagenberg was a consultant with an international consulting firm and the vice president of human resources development in a major NYC teaching hospital.

Dr. Wagenberg received master's and doctoral degrees from Columbia University and has been at NYU Wagner since 1985 where she has received both the Distinguished Teacher Award and the Ace Award. Dr. Wagenberg is also on the faculty of the Executive MBA Program at NYU's Stern School of Business.

This two-day course provides the fundamental principles and methods required to create high performing work, project, Capstone, and/or problem-solving teams. Topics covered will include: moving from group to team; stages of team development; identifying the key competencies for successful team functioning; critical roles and responsibilities on a team; ensuring team productivity; and troubleshooting common team problems. This course is designed to explore the complex organizational mechanisms that need to be in place for the delivery of world-class service. While many organizations understand the importance of service, the ability to consistently deliver on this service often eludes them. This is especially true in healthcare organizations. This course will cover a broad range of service delivery topics including: defining service excellence, aligning core organizational and human resource systems for service delivery, seeing service from the customer’s perspective, improving systems and service, service failure and recovery, and benchmarking best practices in world class service organizations. In addition to providing you with an understanding of current issues in service excellence, a second objective of this course is to develop your skills in applying these concepts. To do this, business cases, classroom exercises and assignments will provide individuals and groups an opportunity to practice analyzing and solving actual service problems.
