Women of Color Policy Network

Our Approach

Launched in 2000, to conduct original research and collect critical data on women and communities of color, the Network works closely and collaboratively with practitioners ,scholars, policy makers, and communities  to ensure that our research is timely, relevant and informed  by the lived experiences of women.

We believe effective public policies come about as a result of the examination of the multiple barriers facing individuals, families, and communities  and by exploring the impact of race, class, gender, and other makers of difference on social access  and resources.

How We Work

All of the Network's research and programs are collaborative and co-produced with our community stakeholders, practitioners, and scholars. We build knowledge from the ground up and from the outside in. Our rich policy analysis and fresh perspective on issues like welfare reform, poverty, health disparities, immigration, labor segmentation, and human development have helped to funnel much needed resources to communities and inform public policy outcomes at the local, state, and national levels.

Each year, the Network produces reports, policy briefs, and other publications that are intended to raise questions, spark dialogue, and offer the latest thinking on a range of social policy issues.
