This testimony, submitted to the U.S. Department of Labor ERISA Advisory Council, identifies the unique challenges and barriers women of color face in retiring securely, including lower wages earned over a lifetime, occupational segmentation and unequal access to wealth builders such as pensions and employer-sponsored retirement plans. The Network offers long- and short-term policy-oriented and programmatic strategies needed to address systemic and structural barriers to retirement readiness among women of color.
