Ashley Kolaya is a Lecturer at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Ashley Kolaya is a communication strategist and coach and a leading expert in learning design and storytelling. She was the founding Director of Curation and Speaker Coaching for TED Masterclass, TED's official public speaking course, which she helped develop and launch. She's coached dozens of TED speakers, developed and globally scaled TED-Ed's Student Talks program, and facilitated speaker development sessions for Fortune 100 companies, school districts, and TEDx organizers around the world.
Ashley began her career with the YMCA’s national civic engagement program, Youth in Government, where she served as Senior Director, and she founded the Anchored initiative to increase authentic dialogue and storytelling around issues of mental health, especially in youth populations. She co-founded the professional leadership and team development consulting company, HumanMomentum.
Ashley received her MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy at NYU Wagner, where she was awarded the Robert Berne Award for Leadership, and she has at various times also been: a political strategist for a failing US Senate campaign, a commercial salmon fisher in Alaska, and a farmer in Costa Rica.
