Erin M. Connell is Director of BoardLead at Cause Strategy Partners. Erin brings her passion for public service and capacity building to her work, which focuses on advancing board governance and development practices in the nonprofit sector through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. Her work centers around the national expansion of BoardLead — a signature board recruitment, placement, and training program — by designing the program to enter new markets, building leadership pipelines, and overseeing strong matches between talented professionals and nonprofit boards. Through this program, Erin focuses on recruiting diverse candidates to be matched to nonprofit boards around the U.S. in service of strengthening the overall governance and the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion across the nonprofit sector.
Erin has worked previously in both social sector and nonprofit consulting, with a particular emphasis on organizational development and capacity building, leadership development, program evaluation, and strategic planning. She has consulted for a range of both local and national nonprofits, foundations, and government agencies. Erin is passionate about nonprofit board governance, and herself serves as the Co-Chair of the Alumni Board at City Year New York. Erin completed her M.P.A. in Public and Nonprofit Management from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. During her time at Wagner, she focused her studies on policy as well as nonprofit management and compliance. Erin was the recipient of NYU Wagner’s Jo Ivey Boufford Award for creating innovative solutions to public service challenges, and served as the peer-elected President of the Wagner Student Association. Erin earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Human Rights from Columbia University.
