John Ceffalio

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service

John Ceffalio is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service of NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. He is also the vice president and municipal credit analyst in the Fixed Income Group at Alliance Bernstein.  He joined the firm in 2010 and covers public power, West Coast general government credits, and U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico.  Prior to joining the AB he spent seven years as a municipal credit analyst at Fitch Ratings, Bear Stearns & Co, and Moody's Investors Service.

Before moving to New York in 2004, Mr. Ceffalio served for nearly 8 years on the staff of former Governor Tony Knowles of Alaska, including four years as a Special Assistant to the Governor.  Mr. Ceffalio earned a B.A. in History from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Masters’ Degree in Governmental Administration from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.  He and his wife live in Brooklyn with their three sons.

As part of the core curriculum of the NYU Wagner Masters program, Capstone teams spend an academic year addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for a client organization. Wagner's Capstone program provides students with a centerpiece of their graduate experience whereby they are able to experience first-hand turning the theory of their studies into practice under the guidance of an experienced faculty member. Projects require students to get up-to-speed quickly on a specific content or issue area; enhance key process skills including project management and teamwork; and develop competency in gathering, analyzing, and reporting out on data. Capstone requires students to interweave their learning in all these areas, and to do so in real time, in an unpredictable, complex, real-world environment.
