Kowsilliya Ramnaresh is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health Administration at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Kowsilliyahas 15+ years of healthcare experience, focusing on physician relationships and Informatics. Kowsilliya worked for Health Quest Medical Practice, restructuring workflows to meet government Quality Programs (i.e. MIPS, PCMH, CPC+), streamlining vendor relationships, project managing the Cerner Ambulatory implementation, and designing the innovation department. Kowsilliya generated an estimated $15-20 million in quality program revenue during her 5-year tenure.
Kowsilliya is currently working at Vocalto, Inc, which is an Artificial Intelligence company focusing on automating physician documentation. Kowsilliya is responsible for guiding the success of the product and leading the multi-disciplinary team (i.e. development, marketing, sales, and support) that is responsible for creating and improving the software. Kowsilliya analyzes the market and competitive environment, laying out a product vision that delivers unique value focused on the needs of the physicians and other healthcare customers.
Kowsilliya graduated from Long Island University/C.W. Post with her PhD in Information Studies, a Masters in Healthcare Administration, and a dual bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Health Information Management.
This course describes the growing involvement of government in stimulating and directing the development of information technology in healthcare organizations. Included is a discussion of attempts to exchange information for the purposes of improving the quality of personal healthcare and public health. Methods for determining the financial value of information technology are described. Techniques for insuring the security and privacy of health information are presented. How information systems and technology can improve the quality of service provided to consumers and the clinical quality of health care is examined.
