All Capstone clients must designate one person in their agency who will act as the project liaison and a back-up person in case of a change in circumstances that prevents the original liaison from continuing in the role.

As you know, Capstone is a degree requirement for all students. Wagner believes that it is an important requirement that makes a significant difference in the quality of your academic and professional experience.

What types of Capstone projects have been done in the past?
A Capstone team may conduct a literature review, perform an environmental scan, develop an operational framework to streamline workflow, develop a financial model, or put forth policy recommendations, among other things.
Do I and my guests need tickets for Convocation and Commencement? How do I obtain them?
Guest Tickets for NYU Wagner Convocation can be requested online beginning mid-March 2018. Eligible graduates can request up to four (4) guest tickets and apply for wait list tickets.
Do I need strong quantitative skills to be admitted to the Wagner PhD program?
Yes, you are expected to have prior quantitative coursework and/or strong quantitative GRE scores. You must complete an econometrics/statistics course covering multiple regression prior to beginning the program.
Does NYU offer graduate housing accommodations?
NYU has very limited graduate housing. Therefore, we suggest our students considering finding housing within the city, and our Office of Off-Campus Housing has extensive resources to help you with your search.
Does NYU Wagner have a weekend program?
Yes, the EMPA for Public Service Leaders offers a schedule option that allows students to complete the program on Saturday only and in less than one year. Courses are offered during the day on Saturday, beginning at 9am.
How are individuals and groups graded in the Capstone Program?
Students are graded on both the products they deliver to their clients and evidence of progressive learning throughout the course. Grades account for students' participation in both class activities and team work and their ability to act on peer and faculty feedback.
How do I change my specialization?
MPA and MUP students are required to choose their specialization during the semester in which they complete their 12th credit. For full-time students, this is their first semester and for part-time students, it is usually their second semester.
How many credits must I complete to obtain a Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy Master's Degree at NYU Wagner?
You must complete 45 credits. Most full-time students take 12 credits per semester. Most part-time students take 6 credits per semester. You can also take January term and summer term courses.

What is the typical schedule of an MS in Public Policy student?
During the first semester, most courses are offered during the daytime, though you may choose electives that meet in the evening or on Saturday. There is more variability in the spring semester, due to internship schedules and a greater number of electives.
When can I start a paid, off-campus internship for Curricular Practical Training (CPT)?
F-1 and J-1 students must complete two full semesters before applying for CPT to start a paid, off-campus internship. In general, students should allow 15 business days for a CPT form to be processed: 5 days at Wagner and 10 business days at the Office of Global Services.
