David Elcott book on 'Future of Liberal Democracy' Wins Book of the Year Award
NYU Wagner David Elcott's timely work of scholarship, Faith, Nationalism, and the Future of Liberal Democracy (University of Notre Dame Press) is the winner of a 2021 INDIES Book of the Year Award. Written with C. Colt Anderson, Tobias Cremer, and Volker Haarman, "this important book highlights the use of religious identity to fuel the rise of illiberal, nationalist, and populist democracy," according to Publishers Weekly. “This is a startling reminder of the insidious potential of religious identity being overtaken by extremist political forces."
Sponsored by Foreword Reviews, the annual awards recognize the best books published by small, independent, and university presses, including university and author publishers.
