Each Tuesday, the Conflict, Security, and
Development Series will examine new research,
discuss creative policy approaches, and highlight
recent innovations in responding to the challenges
of security and development in conflict and
post-conflict situations. 

The self-determination movements exists in more
than half the world’s countries, yet they rarely
result in the creation and acceptance of
independent states. Kosovo and East Timor are two
exceptions.
