Step 5: Register via Albert

After completing the matriculation process with Admissions, but before you can register for your First-Term Course Plan (see Step 4), you must learn how to use Albert, NYU's student information system.

This involves several critical steps:

  1. Set up Multi-Factor Authentication. When you submitted your admission deposit, you activated your NYU NetID using your University ID number (N#) and your birth date. Now that you are a student, you must also follow the instructions to set up Multi-Factor Authentication before accessing Albert through NYUHome.
  2. Update your contact information in Albert. Once you have logged into Albert via NYUHome or Albert directly, go to your Student Center and click "Personal Info." You are required to have a current "NYU Emergency Alert" cell phone number and emergency contact before you can register.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the contents of the Registering on Albert page on the NYU website. This page includes links to the How-To videos for all critical operations in Albert, including planning and validating, adding, dropping, and swapping classes. We recommend that you view all of the videos before proceeding - if you are unable to register for classes, it may be because you missed a step!

Once you have completed these steps, you will be prepared to register. You will be eligible to register at any time after the Enrollment Appointment time assigned to you under "Enrollment Dates" in your Student Center. We encourage you to register as soon as you are eligible; you can always make adjustments to your schedule after participating in the Initial Advisement Webinar.

The act of registering generates related tuition charges for which you are financially responsible. You must review the NYU Policy on Financial Responsibilities once you have registered for classes.
