Meera Joshi, Commissioner of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, visited the Rudin Center today for a breakfast forum titled “Driving for hire in New York: do the numbers add up?”
During the forum – moderated by Mitchell Moss, Director of the Rudin Center – Meera Joshi presented research and findings that aimed to provide a more complete profile of app-based drivers in the city. She also discussed the implications of ensuring a minimum wage for these drivers under the upcoming minimum wage increase and spoke about the effects of the current cap on for-hire vehicle licenses.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission has released a new fact book for 2018 that looks at trends in the taxi and for-hire industry in the city. The 2018 Fact Book can be found at the following link:
