NYU Rudin Center is Hiring Graduate Students for Fall 2025
The NYU Rudin Center for Transportation is seeking two enrolled NYU graduate students to work as Graduate Student Researchers. This role is a key part of our mission to strengthen the understanding of all modes of transportation through research, public forums, and educational programs. We are committed to helping students achieve their academic and career goals by providing opportunities to engage in impactful work.
The Rudin Center values our graduate student researchers as integral members of our team. You will be involved in all aspects of the center's work, including research, writing, and translating academic findings into accessible, high-impact content for public, media, and policymaker audiences. We host a variety of policy forums and workshops throughout the year, bringing together industry leaders and practitioners to discuss our latest research and findings. We also organize special events for our student team, including networking opportunities with alumni.
The Rudin Center is committed to fostering a diverse community that values a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. All candidates should have a strong interest in the center’s research areas, which include autonomy and urbanism, sustainability, and transportation leadership.
Day-to-Day Activities
Day-to-day activities may include:
- Conducting policy scans and literature reviews to support current research projects.
- Assisting with data analysis using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Translating research into accessible content for various audiences through writing policy briefs, blog posts, and web content.
- Drafting timely press releases and social media content to promote the center's work.
- Assisting in the implementation of a Center-wide editorial vision and content strategy across digital platforms.
- Supporting the planning and execution of public forums and events, including discussion moderation.
- Contributing to policy and research activities focused on improving transit accessibility, which may involve monitoring the policy landscape and drafting presentations.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants with one or more of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Strong research and writing skills
- Experience with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, Stata)
- Experience with project management and organization
- Event planning and coordination skills
- Ability to translate complex subjects across multiple channels, including web, social media, and newsletters
- Familiarity with New York transportation policy and regulations

Schedule and Compensation
Graduate researchers must commit to 15-20 hours per week during the school year and may work up to 35 hours per week during holiday breaks. We are currently asking students to work at least two-thirds of their hours in-person at our office, with the option to work the remaining hours remotely.
One upcoming project will include brief, occasional travel within New York State. Please indicate your willingness to travel in your cover letter.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary for graduate student researchers is $30.00 per hour, based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.
