  4. In your application materials, use Essay 1 to support your rationale for the dual degree.

NYU Wagner, in partnership with several NYU undergraduate divisions, offers combined degree programs for students to earn the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration or the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Urban Planning in less time than it would take to earn both degrees separately. Students may complete a maximum of 21 of the 45 credits required for the graduate degree while they are still undergraduates. Students must earn a grade of B or better in each relevant course in order for the credits to give them advanced standing for the MPA or the MUP.

BA-MPA

The BA-MPA program is open to NYU undergraduate students of any major currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Science, the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, or the Global Liberal Studies Program. Students may complete a maximum of 21 of the 45 credits for the MPA while they are still undergraduates. These 21 credits may be a combination of NYU Wagner graduate and undergraduate courses or their CAS equivalents; students must earn a B or better in all NYU Wagner or equivalent courses in order for these to be applied to the MPA. Dual-degree students must complete all requirements of their major as well as College-wide requirements prior to matriculating at Wagner.

BA-MUP

The BA-MUP program is open to NYU CAS undergraduates in one of six relevant majors: Economics, International Relations, Metropolitan Studies, Politics, Sociology, and Urban Design. Students may complete a maximum of 21 of the 45 credits required for the MUP while they are still undergraduates. These 21 credits may be a combination of NYU Wagner graduate courses or their CAS equivalents; students must earn a grade of B or better in all NYU Wagner or equivalent courses in order for these to be applied to the MUP. Dual-degree students must complete all requirements of their major as well as College-wide requirements for the BA prior to matriculating at NYU Wagner.

All BA-MPA and BA-MUP applicants are required to interview prior to admission to the dual degree program. Interviews are by invitation only and the Office of Admissions will contact you via email to notify you of your interview invitation. Interviews typically occur in early February (or within 4-6 weeks of your application).
